ABOUT MIKE FELKER

Why I'm Running

I'm running for Congress to lead the change in this District, State, and Country.

The Government last worked for the American people over 25 years ago. I believe they think "We the People" work for them. Regardless of party affiliation, nobody in America wants Government to spend more than it takes in or wants Government to increase in size. Yet every year, they overspend and continue to get bigger every year.

We can do much better if we can get the right people elected. Henry Ford once said, "What's right about America is although we have a mess of problems, we have great capacity, intellect, and resources to do something about them." Henry Ford's words are now more relevant than ever. We have to elect people who want to work FOR the people and have the integrity to listen and implement REAL change.

The Constitution

"We The People"

What do those words mean to you? The first words of our Constitution. They declare the Constitution derives its power not from a king or Congress but from the people itself.

This is the very foundation of our Country.

Did you know the Government gets all its power from the Citizens of the United States?

The Constitution is the world's longest-surviving written charter of Government. Knowing these things, we all have forgotten these words, or possibly they have lost their meaning to many. We have a Constitutional Responsibility to know what our Government is doing, and we have a responsibility to hold its members accountable. It's what I am proposing to you if elected.

I will ask the people of this District to get involved and stay involved in what our members are doing and hold them accountable. I will ask this District to do things no other member has asked them to do, so be ready. We will be busy.

Our constitutional responsibility is always to do the right thing for the people we serve. It's about being there for the many and not just the few. Words have to mean something; they have to have power behind them. There are over 700,000 people who live in this District, and it's time we got back to our Constitutional Responsibility.

"An enlightened citizenry is indispensable for the proper functioning of a Republic. Self-government is not possible unless the citizens are educated sufficiently to enable them to exercise oversite. It is therefore imperative that the nation sees to it that a suitable education be provided for all its citizens".

~Thomas Jefferson

The 2nd Amendment

Our Constitution explicitly wrote it for one reason: to protect the people from a tyrannical government. We must be responsible for this right granted by our Constitution. Regarding gun violence, I believe that Local, State Governments must hold criminals accountable before their crimes become gun violence. Most gun violence comes from people who should never be allowed to own or possess a firearm. I will work to keep and protect this right at all costs.
